Secrets of Mens Health – PROGESTERONE For Prostate Problems

The health of human bodies is very much connected with our reproductive functions that are deeply connected with level of hormones our bodies produce. Level of “male” or “female”  hormones and their ratio highly influences overall health of adult person.

Whenever is some imbalance, or level of sexual hormones start to drop down , thousand of health problems can occur. Men are especially vulnerable to the problems with prostate, actually almost all men can expect some of the prostate problems during their life.

.

Function Of Prostate

The prostate is a walnut-shaped gland, about 1,5 inches long. It is located beneath the bladder. The prostate completely surrounds the urethra, which carries both urine and semen from the body (from bladder through the penis)
The primary function of the prostate gland is to produce part of the fluid that makes up semen.

For its function, the gland requires primarly testosterone that helps in regulating bladder control and normal functioning. But, not only testosterone is important – for vital function of prostate gland man need adequate amount of “female” hormones as well. In tissue of prostate, there are receptors for testosterone, progesterone and estrogene hormones.

Until puberty, the size of the prostate gland remains of the same size and at puberty it grows rapidly and doubles in size. Prostate can grow continously but very slowly during the whole life, but in middle or older age it usually starts to grow rapidly again, causing various health problems. This happens when hormonal levels of reproductive hormones start to change when reproductive age is slowly geting over.

Majority of men are expected to have some prostate problem – from benign prostatic enlargment, prostatitis (bacterial inflammation) to the most serious cancer of prostate.

Male Prostate Health, Estrogen Dominance And Progesterone Benefits

Prostate problems are primarly affecting urinary system but have serious effect on sexual vitality in majority of cases.

Human society is very cruel to the men when the problem is connected with health of their reproductive organs – myths about quantity and quality of sexual performance which is needed fo man to be a man makes many men ashamed to openly discuss their health problems, especially when hormonal levels start to drop down. Many men often try to deny that problems, untill they become very serious, because they deeply touch their self-esteem. When man starts to loose his sexual power, his self-worthyness starts to seriosly drop down. Our society forces sex as the most important activity in human life, so as result many men develop serious psychological problems when it starts to happen, in addition to the health ones.

hormonal levels drop down whenever we decide that we do not want to have children any more. The same is for men and women. Such desicion sends info to all our endocrine glands to change hormonal levels and stop forcing reproductive functions any more. Our reproductive abilities depend exclusively on high levels of sexual hormones, as well they depend on our personal intentions to have or not to have children (now, some time in the future, or not at all).

Prostate problems are for sure matter of major concern for every man, because high possibility of developing cancer. But, what is really happening when prostate problems arise?

1. level of testosterone and progesterone drops down

2. due to that, much more testosterone then is normal is changed (by 5-alpha-reductase enzyme) to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT stimulates prostate growth. Normal testosterone : DHT ratio assures balanced self-regeneration of prostate, if there is too much DHT, prostate starts to grow rapidly.

3. Why is progesterone so important? Progesterone is vital factor which blocks 5-alpha-reductase enzyme to convert too much testosterone into DHT. Progesterone is the key which assures normal testosterone : DHT ratio. In this manner, progesterone helps raise testosterone levels.

4. Due to the presence of many estrogenic supstances (xenoestrogens) in our environment (please read my Hub: MALE GENDER IS IN SERIOUS DANGER ), levels of progesterone and testosterone are droping down quickly then ever before . Estrogene dominance is major cause of cancer of reproductive organs – in men as well as in women.

Wrong Treatment With Androgen-Surpressing Drugs

.

For many years medicine was surpressing production of testosterone in order to try to heal prostate cancer, because it was wrongly assumed that testosterone is “responsible” for causing cancer. How that happen? 70 years ago it was noticed, when castration (removal of testicles) was performed on prostate cancer patients, that growth of the cancer was slowed down. Physicans assumed that this happened because of reduction of testosterone production, so since then they completely relied on treating the prostate cancer by suspression of production of male hormones . Unfortunatelly, success of such treatment lasts for only 2-3 years time, after that tumor becomes insensitive on hormonal suspression and starts to grow and spread again.

Men do not have only “male” hormones – they have estrogenes and progesterone as well, and only adequate ratio among them assures good health.

There is no logic that testosterone is causing prostate problems, because prostate problems do not exist when testosterone is in its peak in men`s younger age.

Estrogene prevalence due to the polluters in enviromnent, is big problem in last few decades. It affects men`s health on all levels, especially reproductive organs and is major cause of raising number of prostate cancer cases. One of the 3 main estrogene hormones, estradiol, is causing growth of the tumors and cancer and supstances alike it (which act as estradiol in human bodies) can be found in many products we normally use today, as well as in all major polluters.

The same hormone – estradiol when prevalent, is causing breast cancer and cancer of female reproductive organs, what is not strange – the both male and female organs develop from the completely same tissue in embrionical state, so our biology does not differ so much as we think.
